ACADEMICPUB LAUNCHES STUDENT BOOKSHELF AND iPAD READER
New York, NY, August 21, 2012 - AcademicPub™, the leading provider of custom books - print and digital - for the higher education market, today announced the launch of The AcademicPub Student Bookshelf™, an innovative custom platform that enables college students to load and store their digital books, and to read and study with them via laptop, tablet, smart phone or desktop. The unit of SharedBook Inc. also announced a new iPad application for students at colleges and universities using AcademicPub, available immediately.
The announcements were made by Caroline Vanderlip, CEO, SharedBook Inc.
"AcademicPub is and always will be platform-agnostic," said Vanderlip. "Yet we are also platform-focused, with a commitment to making the digital experience for our student user base as easy and as dynamic as possible. To serve the many students who use a revolving mix of laptop, tablet and mobile device, we created The AcademicPub Student Bookshelf, a platform that accelerates their transition to digital content and eliminates the need to manually transfer files."
According to Vanderlip, AcademicPub digital books have been available on iPads, iPhones, Mac, Windows PC, Android and other smart phone devices since its April 2011 launch. She said that the new AcademicPub iPad Reader™ will provide iPad-using students with an option for not just reading on the go, but also for navigating course materials by adding bookmarks; entering notes; sorting by various categories such as title or download date; viewing in multiple layouts; zooming, panning or scanning content; and linking to related materials and rich media, such as video and audio files. Additional features will be added as the AcademicPub platform - and the iPad itself - continue to evolve.
Students may register for either The AcademicPub Student Bookshelf or AcademicPub iPad Reader at www.academicpub.com. This optional free step follows their purchase of AcademicPub digital course materials assigned by an instructor. If they prefer, students can always choose to purchase a print version of an AcademicPub custom book.
AcademicPub, SharedBook Inc's technology platform for higher education, assembles, composes, prices and delivers custom textbooks - in eBook and/or print format. AcademicPub allows for immediate creation and inclusion of copyright-cleared content from anywhere, such as web articles, self-generated lectures or from the AcademicPub Content Library. Digital or print distribution generates a fast and easy way for educators to provide an engaging educational experience, with lower prices and up-to-the-minute materials for students. More information and free registration for faculty is available at www.academicpub.com. Headquartered in New York since 2004, SharedBook Inc. is privately held and can be found at www.sharedbook.com.
