SHAREDBOOK INC. NAMES ANGELA BATTLE AND DEBRA EXUM TO NEW ROLES IN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND SALES
NEW YORK, May 4, 2011 - SharedBook Inc., parent company of recently launched AcademicPub™, has named two higher education community veterans - Angela Y. Battle and Debra Exum - to newly created roles in business development and sales, respectively.
The announcement was made by Caroline Vanderlip, chief executive officer, SharedBook, to whom both Battle and Exum report.
"We are very excited to bring Angela and Debra on board to our growing team of professionals, and to have them lead our new AcademicPub unit's business development and sales efforts in the higher education market" said Vanderlip. "With our seven-year track record of success in custom publishing, now is the time to bring our platform to colleges and universities, making it both easier for faculty members to build books and less expensive for students to buy them."
Angela Y. Battle is SharedBook's new vice president, business development. She is responsible for securing strategic partnerships with publishers, academic institutions and other vendors, with a particular emphasis on growing the AcademicPub line of business for higher education.
Battle is well-suited to this new role, as she has more than 13 years of experience in the academic and trade publishing industries. Prior to joining SharedBook, Battle served as director of book publishing at Learning Express, LLC. Previously, Battle held senior positions in sales, marketing and editorial areas at Pearson Education, John Wiley & Sons, and Cengage Learning.
A graduate of the University of Rochester, Battle holds both a B.A. in English and a MsEd in Secondary English Education from that upstate New York institution.
Debra Exum is the new national accounts manager for SharedBook. In this role, she is responsible for developing new business relationships for AcademicPub in colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
Exum comes to AcademicPub with 26 years of higher education community experience, having played key sales and marketing roles at publishers including Macmillan, Pearson, McGraw-Hill and Houghton Mifflin. Prior to joining SharedBook, Debra was director, sales and marketing, for Content On Demand, a publisher of online collegiate mathematics courses.
An accomplished musician, Exum holds a B.S. from Florida State University.
