ACADEMICPUB GOES CUSTOM ON SIX MORE CAMPUSES
"Schools Attracted by Option for Cost Management, Copyright Compliance,
Complete Flexibility in Digital and Print Delivery
New York, NY, March 2, 2012 - AcademicPub™, the leading provider of custom books - print and digital - in the higher education market, today announced that six more colleges and universities have contracted for CUSTOM COLLEGE PLUS™, a co-branded custom publishing solution for institutions of higher education.
Caroline Vanderlip, CEO of AcademicPub parent, SharedBook Inc., made the announcement.
Piloting CUSTOM COLLEGE PLUS™ through an agreement with Barnes and Noble are Babson College and Boston University (BU), enabling these schools to mold the benefits of AcademicPub specifically to their campuses.
The other schools in the U.S. contracting for CUSTOM COLLEGE PLUS™ are Vanderbilt University, distributing through its Barnes and Noble store; and West Hills Community College in California, distributing through its Follett store. North of the border, Canadian signees include Mount Royal University (MRU) and the University of Lethbridge.
Separately, Columbus, Ohio-based Zip Publishing, which operates Coursepackets.net on 100+ U.S. college campuses, has contracted with AcademicPub.
"AcademicPub is an effective antidote to ever-rising textbook costs and, with an umbrella custom college arrangement, our solution can be applied to an entire campus, creating great savings across the board," said Vanderlip. "Our program is easily installable, either in conjunction with the designated bookstore or for direct student purchase."
Institutions participating in CUSTOM COLLEGE PLUS™ receive a co-branded AcademicPub web portal; custom-designed book covers with school colors and logo; font, alignment and trim-size options; eBook and professionally published output choices; and a repository of all custom course materials created.
Schools choosing bookstore distribution receive access to all of the above options, plus the ability to sell eBooks if the store is not already enabled. The bookstore retains full freedom to manage pricing, while gaining access to marketing materials to engage instructors and drive usage. The bookstore may choose to print through AcademicPub or a local vendor.
"Whether the program is through the bookstore or direct with the school, significant savings are achieved throughout the learning materials lifecycle," said Vanderlip. "Meanwhile, copyright compliance is streamlined, and timely delivery of content is assured."
The six partner schools and separate Zip Publishing arrangement revealed today join four previously announced CUSTOM COLLEGE PLUS™ (CCP) partners who launched the CCP program in early December 2011. They are: North Dakota State University, Palmer Chiropractic College in Florida, the University of Alberta in Canada, and CoursePacks Etc., an off-campus course pack provider working with approximately 30 North American institutions.
Last month, AcademicPub announced that 114 publishing partners are now part of the AcademicPub Content Library, providing more than 2.5 million units of content that may be utilized by instructors to build timely, custom materials for students. A complete list of content partners may be found here.
AcademicPub will be exhibiting and speaking at the CAMEX Campus Market Expo 2012, March 2-6 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, UT. Visit AcademicPub at booth #7028.
