SHAREDBOOK INTRODUCES BLOG2PRINT WIDGET,
BUILT USING ITS OPEN API
Writers on the Blogger Platform and Their Readers Can Now Turn
Their Favorite Posts into Books with a Single Click
NEW YORK – June 28, 2007 – SharedBook Inc., the Reverse Publishing Platform provider, launched a Blog2Print widget in beta form today. Blog2Print incorporates the company's open application programming interface (API), now available for anyone to use. Built in part using one of Google's APIs, the widget is compatible with the Blogger platform. Additional platforms will be added later this summer.
Blog2Print is a quick and easy way for blog owners to compile their favorite posts into printed book format with a single click. The widget also gives bloggers the ability to monetize their content through the sale of blog books created by their readers. Content owners can sign up to receive a 20 percent share of the retail price of all books made by others of their content.
The first 100 bloggers to add the Blog2Print widget to their sites will be entitled to a complimentary 20-page hard cover book, valued at $24.95. The offer is good through Monday, July 31, 2007.
"We introduced our open API to give anyone – businesses or consumers – the ability to flow content into SharedBook's Reverse Publishing Platform for on-demand output," said Caroline Vanderlip, Chief Executive Officer, SharedBook Inc. "However, some programming skills are required to work with an API. Recognizing this, we wanted to use the API to build a simple way for individuals to flow the online content that is the most relevant to them into a structured book product. Blog2Print is the first result of this effort."
When users click on the Blog2Print button to print content, they are given several options: they can upload a cover photo, select all posts or the dates of the entries they would like to include in the book, and choose whether the posts should appear in reverse-chronological or chronological order. They can also select an introduction, or write their own.
As with other SharedBook products, individuals can preview and purchase the book, or personalize the content further by adding to it. They can also invite others into their personal book making space to contribute additional information.
Pricing begins at $19.95 for soft cover and $24.95 for hard cover books. This includes a full-color 20-page book and a readable flipbook version of the book that can be virally distributed, plus free shipping of the printed version. For more information, please go to http://www.blog2print.com.
