SHAREDBOOK APPOINTS ASHLEY GORDON VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
New Technology Veteran to Expand Strategic Partnerships with Publishers and Retailers
NEW YORK – October 1, 2008 – SharedBook Inc., the Custom Publishing Platform provider, has appointed Ashley Gordon to the position of Vice President, Business Development. In this role, Ashley will be responsible for leading the company's efforts to create new relationships with publishing partners to deliver customized and personalized print-on-demand books.
Ashley's appointment comes at a time when SharedBook is responding to growing demand among consumers for custom books from trade publishers. Building on the success of its release with Random House of a personalized edition of The Poky Little Puppy, SharedBook recently launched its new initiative, The Kids Personalized Book Store, at www.kids.sharedbook.com. With the cooperation and support of its publishing partners, SharedBook is now offering Pinkalicious, The Wind in the Willows, and more than 80 other titles, in which personal photos and text can be added to produce a unique copy of a classic book. It is expected that another 50 - 100 titles will be added for the holiday season.
Ashley is uniquely qualified to help publishers and retailers capitalize on this revenue opportunity, bridging innovative applications with traditional book products. She joins SharedBook from Lightning Source, Inc., where she was Director of Channel Development. While at Lightning, she provided guidance to publishers and retailers, facilitating the adaptation of digital printing platforms, creating new product lines and enhancing revenue streams. Previously, Ashley directed Sales and Marketing for Sprout, one of the first print-on-demand companies to come to market. Additionally, Ashley was the editor for River City Publishing and with Black Belt Press, independent, general trade publishers.
"Ashley Gordon is a highly respected member of the publishing community, and someone we are proud to have as a colleague," said Caroline Vanderlip, Chief Executive Officer, SharedBook Inc. "Her experience developing technology-based programs to fit the needs of both publishers and consumers will be a significant asset to SharedBook as we move forward with our platform."
